F5 timber stress grades

An ‘F-number is assigned to stress grades for hardwoods and some softwoods (F5, F14, F17, F27 etc.). Softwoods are also given an ‘MGP’ number and, on rare occasions, an ‘F’ number when they are stressed. Visual grading, machine stress grading, and proof grading can all be used to assign ‘F’ grades. What does the letter F imply in terms of timber grading? F grades: A stress grade assigned to a timber-based on its strength group and a visual or machine stress grading system in the past. Higher-strength groups receive higher F grade numbers. Stress ratings are established by the visual features of small, clear parts in a visual stress grading system.

F5 & F7 Structural Timber

All of our structural lumber is H3 treated, allowing it to be used in above-ground applications outside. H3 can be used for cladding, fascia, pergolas, decking, carports, balustrade, fencing, beams, joists, and bearers, and protects against moderate deterioration, borers, and termites.

Treated Pine’s Advantages

Treated pine is highly long-lasting, making it excellent for many types of exterior carpentry projects. For one thing, the anti-rot protection extends the life of the product by several years. Untreated green heartwood, on the other hand, can decay even if it was treated with a chemical treatment at the factory. It’s also termite and insect resistant, so you’ll never have to worry about these pests infesting your home.

Furthermore, treated pine resists water absorption, ensuring that your outside woodwork will never warp or break as a result of rainwater or moisture exposure. This makes it both easy to maintain and incredibly durable, making it suited for both commercial and residential uses.
